Belfast Local Strategy Partnership Social Economy Awareness and Development Programme

PLEASE NOTE: FULL APPLICATIONS WILL ONLY BE ACCEPTED FROM THOSE ORGANISATIONS WHO COMPLETED AND SUBMITTED AN “EXPRESSION OF INTEREST” FORM TO BELFAST LOCAL STRATEGY PARTNERSHIP IN RELATION TO THIS INITIATIVE, AND WHO HAVE SUBSEQUENTLY BEEN CALLED TO MAKE FULL APPLICATIONS.

Measure 3.1

Belfast Local Strategy Partnership is responsible for the delivery in Belfast of Measure 3.1 of the EU Programme for Peace and Reconciliation in Northern Ireland and the Border Region of Ireland 2000-2004. NO LONGER OPEN

Measure 3.1 supports Local Economic Initiatives for Developing the Social Economy.

Belfast Local Strategy Partnership is now inviting applications in relation to the delivery of a Social Economy Awareness and Development Programme within Belfast.

Programme Aim

To raise awareness of the Social Economy in Belfast and to develop the capacity of organisations in Belfast to become actively involved in the Social Economy.

Programme Objectives

In addition any proposal must be able to demonstrate how it meets the criteria of the EU Programme for Peace and Reconciliation in Northern Ireland and the Border Region of Ireland 2000-2004 in terms of addressing the legacy of the conflict and taking the opportunities arising from Peace.

Applications are sought from organisations or consortia who can meet the following criteria:

Applications are sought from organisations or consortia proposing to deliver a programme either on a city-wide basis or targeting a specific area, or number of areas, within Belfast i.e. North Belfast, South Belfast, East Belfast, West Belfast, Greater Shankill.

Belfast Local Strategy Partnership – Measure 3.2

Belfast Local Strategy Partnership is responsible for the delivery in Belfast of Measure 3.2 of the EU Programme for Peace and Reconciliation in Northern Ireland and the Border Region of Ireland 2000-2004.

Measure 3.2 aims to develop a range of actions at local level that will ensure the training and development needs of the local community are met. This specifically includes the development of training interventions tailored to meet the needs of the most socially excluded who through lack of qualifications and competencies have been unable to adequately access opportunities within the labour market. It also aims to ensure that the training needs of local businesses, the enterprise and social economy sectors are catered for.

BLSP is pleased to announce a further allocation round of funding under Measure 3.2 Locally Based Human Resource, Training and Development Strategies.

Total allocation under this round: £1,000,000 (one million).

Closing date for the receipt of applications: 18 June 2004

Measure 3.2

Within this round of funding BLSP invites proposals that address at least one of the following call criteria:

 

Project Promoters must also be able to demonstrate the following:

 

In addition any proposal must be able to demonstrate how it meets the criteria of the EU Programme for Peace and Reconciliation in Northern Ireland and the Border Region of Ireland 2000-2004 in terms of addressing the legacy of the conflict and taking the opportunities arising from Peace.

Projects submitted under this Programme will be assessed on these criteria referring, wherever possible, to quantitative data and similar authoritative evidence.

It is anticipated that grants may be awarded up to a maximum of £100,000 (one hundred thousand) for an 18 month period. BLSP will accept one proposal per Project Promoter.

Any proposals previously assessed as ineligible under this call should not re-apply.

BLSP Measure 3.1 Small Grants

Belfast Local Strategy Partnership is responsible for the delivery in Belfast of Measure 3.1 of the EU Programme for Peace and Reconciliation in Northern Ireland and the Border Region of Ireland 2000-2004.

Measure 3.1 supports Local Economic Initiatives for Developing the Social Economy.

BLSP is pleased to announce a further allocation round of funding under Measure 3.1 under the Small Grants Programme i.e. maximum award of £20, 000, to assist existing Social Enterprises to address barriers to their growth and to promote their development and enhancement.

Are you an existing Social Enterprise i.e. Profit Making not Profit Taking? Are you experiencing barriers to the growth and development of your Social Enterprise?

Under this allocation it is anticipated that grants will be awarded to Project Promoters for “one-off” interventions related specifically to the development of their Social Enterprise.

This may include costs relating to: capital, marketing and PR, product development, research/design/technology, strategy development, e-business and information services, staff development.

Project Promoters must also be able to demonstrate the following:

Total allocation under this round: £400, 000.
